Coming this summer, The Big One Hundred, created and produced by Trigger, brings together performances, events and workshops to help protect Ashdown Forest for the next hundred years. We’ll be introducing a new character to the Forest, a curious creature inspired by the landscape and special species who live there. Our new creature will also be popping up at sites across Wealden to delight and inspire children to see the magic in nature and the joy of reading.

What is The Big One Hundred?

The Big One Hundred, created and produced by Trigger, is a district-wide programme of performances, events and workshops designed to encourage children to see the magic in nature and help protect Ashdown Forest for the next hundred years.

The Big One Hundred brings together communities across Wealden, and further afield, through a rich programme of creative activities. A new puppet character, inspired by the Forest’s landscape and wildlife and bought to life by 10 performers, will be introduced during the Ashdown Forest ‘Explorer Day’ weekend, a free, family-friendly series of performances, workshops, interactive experiences and guided walks.

Our puppet creature will also be visiting four other locations in Wealden, creating more opportunities for children to explore their local environment and engage with reading in new and imaginative ways.

Alongside the public programme, every primary school in the district has been offered a educational workshop and dedicated resource pack, ensuring the project reaches as many young people as possible.
